Biography

Born in Auckland, Dave Endean grew up sailing with his family and then moved into the local dinghy scene when he was ten years old. He left school at the age of 17 to join the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron youth training program, where he started match racing and took part in his first international regattas.

In 1999, he left New Zealand for his first bout of professional sailing, in Europe, with the Swedish entry for the Adecco World Championships. He then joined Team Tyco in the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race.

In 2003, he caught up with One World Challenge, sailing the America's Cup. After two seasons with Emma Richards and Mike Sanderson on their Open 60 Pindar, he joined Team ABN AMRO. He sailed to victory in the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race on ABN AMRO One with skipper Mike Sanderson.

Directly after the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 he moved to Valencia to sail as a pitman on the Swedish entry for the America's Cup, Victory Challenge.

Dave has since the end of the America's cup been with Ericsson Racing Team.
